What does “Nehkalank” imply?
In the Chaubees Avtar section of Dasam Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj, Guru Gobind Singh Ji prophesied the arrival of the tenth Avtar of Vishnu, known as the Nehkalank Avatar. Nehkalank, derived from "Neh" meaning without and "Kalank" meaning blemish, signifies an embodiment of Parmesvar (the Supreme Being) that remains untainted in the age of Kaljug (the era of darkness and moral decline). Akali Guru Gobind Singh Ji, through the Nehkalank Avatar Bani, explains that this divine manifestation will wage a relentless war against Adharam (unrighteousness) and bring about the transformation of Kaljug into Satjug (the age of truth).
The term Nehkalank conveys the idea of being untainted and unblemished, specifically in the context of Kaljug, the age characterized by moral degradation. The Pracheen Panth Parkash documents that the Pandit deliberately chose the letter 'N' as part of the name Satguru Nanak, signifying that Satguru Ji themselves were Nehkalank (without blemish), thereby associating the letter 'N' with the Nehkalank Avatar.
Due to the child's immaculate nature,
His reputation was bound to reach great heights.
Commencing with the letter 'N', He bestowed upon him the name Nanak,
In honor of the prophet Nehkalank. (12)
