Akali Baba Giana Singh Ji

Jathedar Akali Baba Giana Singh Ji

Twelve years following the momentous uprising of 1857, Akali Baba Giana Singh Ji Nihang led a prominent group of Nihang Singhs in an endeavor to revive the ancient role of the Akali Panth and rekindle the Sikh spirit within the people of Punjab. The British administration, driven by their agenda to disarm the Khalsa, had interfered with Sikh traditions and attempted to undermine the Nihangs' resolve through bribes and a shoot-on-sight policy. They also subtly aimed to erode the Sikh mindset by confiscating two of the three Guru Granths and altering the style of the Sikh turban.
