Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji

The seventh Guru, Guru Har Rai Ji, surpasses the power of seven foreign countries and nine skies.

Millions of people from all seven directions and nine boundaries stand in reverence at his door, and the sacred angels and divine beings dutifully serve him.

(Bhai Nand Laal Ji Vaaran)

Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji is the seventh embodiment of Sri Akaal Purakh. He was born on 16 January 1630 in Kiratpur Sahib, Lahore. At the age of 14, Guru Ji ascended to the Guruship on 3 March 1644.

Guru Ji was known for maintaining control over the Akaal Sena and avoiding conflicts with the enemies of righteousness. When summoned by Aurangzeb to explain his association with Sufis, Guru Ji sent their eldest son Ram Rai as a representative. However, Ram Rai attempted to please Aurangzeb by altering a verse of Gurbani related to Islam. As a result, Guru Ji excommunicated Ram Rai and nominated their younger son, Guru Har Krishan, as their successor. (Note: The Ram Raiyas are still excommunicated to this day. They are part of the five groups with whom a Sikh should not associate.)

In 1661, Guru Ji left for their heavenly abode, and Guru Har Krishan was chosen as the eighth Guru.
