Guru Angad Dev Ji
ਗੁਰ ਅੰਗਦ ਦੀ ਦੋਹੀ ਫਿਰੀ ਸਚੁ ਕਰਤੈ ਬੰਧਿ ਬਹਾਲੀ ॥
Guru Angad was appointed, and the True Creator affirmed it.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਾਇਆ ਪਲਟੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਲਿ ਤਖਤੁ ਬੈਠਾ ਸੈ ਡਾਲੀ ॥
Nanak merely changed his physical form; He still sits on the throne, with hundreds of branches reaching out.
(Bhai Gurdaas Ji Vaaran)
The second embodiment of Sri Akaal Purakh is Guru Angad Ji. Formerly known as Bhai Lehna Ji, he was born on 31 March 1504 in Harike, Punjab. Before becoming the disciple of Satguru Nanak, Bhai Lehna Ji was a religious teacher who preached the teachings of the Goddess-oriented branch of the broader Sanatan Dharam. In his late twenties, he crossed paths with Satguru Nanak Ji and became his devoted disciple.
When the time came for a new successor to the Sikhs, Satguru Nanak tested his many disciples. Bhai Lehna Ji passed the test and was bestowed with the Gurgaddi (Guruship) on 7 September 1539. His name was changed to 'Guru Angad Ji'.
Guru Angad Ji, like Satguru Nanak Ji, further emphasized the importance of selfless service, devotion to Akaal Purakh, the concept of oneness, and the company of saints.
Towards the end of Guru Angad Ji's life, before their physical departure, they passed on the Gurgaddi (Guruship) to Guru Amar Daas Ji.
